Why make one cake when you can make two? That was my sentiment when my son Rafferty had his first birthday. I have already posted his lion cake (roar), but I also made another cake for a family celebration from the delightful womens weekly birthday cake book.
This one more closely resembles the cake in the book although it was supposed to be a bear and came out looking more like a koala!
I love Rafferty in his Saints jumper has Shannon already got him signed up. Anne
ReplyDeleteTwo cakes thats impressive Katie. Rafferty is pretty cute. I have been meaning to ask you how Shannon coped with the whole Grand Final disaster. I feel very sorry for him. KAren
ReplyDeleteYes, Anne, he is already a signed up member and has a wardrobe full of st kilda clothes. Poor thing!
ReplyDeleteWell Karen, I still think he can't quite believe it. They came so close, and what makes it worse is that I don't think they've got the goods for next year. They may have lost their opportunity. Lucky we have raff or I think he may never have recovered!
ReplyDeleteSo cute, love the cake
ReplyDeleteI remember one amazingly hot January when my five year old son chose the dinosaur cake from the brilliant WW birthday cake book. I started to assemble it as soon as we got back from swimming lessons. As we had no airconditioner the icing was sliding off and I had used every toothpick in the house to hold it together long enough to take a photo of the gorgeous one blowing out the candles. Looking through adult eyes it was a disaster to look at but I'm guessing to the kids it was ok.
ReplyDeleteYou can make me a birthday cake anytime! My kids never got anything quite as creative and I don't remember getting one either. Poor me!
ReplyDeleteMy sister is a wizz with the cakes. Her kids lucked out on that one. I'll see how my wife goes with our sons first birthday cake. Not that it is a competition.
ReplyDeleteDisclaimer: I don't believe that making cakes is only for wives only that if I made a cake it would look and taste like a cow pie.
Katie that cake is so awesome, Rafferty looks like he's ready to dive head first into it : )
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic cake. I only just managed to make the number one and nearly had a breakdown trying to ice it. Well done! Rafferty is gorgeous
ReplyDeleteMy two kids are grown up now however over the years I have made many birthday cakes from the WW birthday cake book - dolly varden, lolly shop, rockets, racing tracks....
